In order to assist with recovery of Japan after The Great East Japan Earthquake, Packet General is working with SoftAgency Co., Ltd. to enable Japanese businesses to safeguard their critical data files through a disaster recovery service.
Packet General is donating one hundred Vault-GENERAL™ appliances to SoftAgency who will deploy them in a data center in Fukuoka in order to launch a free service. Under the plan, each business will receive a fully dedicated Vault-GENERAL™ virtual appliance which will encrypt data before storing it onto the disk. The business owner will maintain complete and absolute control over the encryption key that is used to encrypt the critical data files. Unauthorized file access attempts will be denied while authorized accesses will be logged in order to generate a cryptographically signed report.
A press release in English is posted in the Packet General press room. A Japanese version of the same press release is available here. Businesses that want to take advantage of this free offer may submit their request here or go to VG-Sync to learn more about the disaster recovery service (Japanese).
